The target page https://www.herder-institut.de/bildkatalog/wikidata/Q53454 does not reveal the ID. Where does the information come from? 89.12.122.61 02:03, 14 April 2019 (UTC)

The ID of the record is determined using a PHP script, which identifies the wikidata ID (QID) in the MySql table of the relational database system. This record-ID determines the position in the tree table which is dynamically generatet with every export of the data. Urban 3th (talk) 07:52, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

Duplicate IDs in Bildkatalog?

Hi. I wonder about links such as Q14956242 (building) and Q368073 (village), or Q1435315 (building) and Q3044083 (village). Seemingly respective building and village entries in Bildkatalog are the same as the set of images and object description are the same, in both cases rather matching the building, not the village. Why are these links/redirects made from Wikidata IDs of villages? 2001:7D0:81DA:F780:5EC:2E3B:32B5:6E74 08:15, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

These links/redirects are made in the Bildkatalog, because the building is locatet in the village and so a part of this village. This is the usual case of a Wikipedia article of a town or a village, where the buildings are mentioned. Sometimes in the backround another building or street is seen or can be recognized, which doesn't belong to the building but to the village. Urban 3th (talk) 08:31, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

That's confusing. If more general entry/article on village includes images on building, then generally it seems fine (as long as building really is in given village). However, given village item links to Bildkatalog entry, where the subject is more specifically described as "Kloster" (building) and is systematize as "Architektur". The latter metadata doesn't really match the village, does it? Bildkatalog entries refer to images and in images there are very often several entities depictet. Some entities are in the foreground and many in the backround. A town or a village is based on a bunch of entities and a town or a village is based on the planned architecture of buildings, streets, places and parks. All of these single buildings, streets and places in a town or a village belong to this town or village.

So the ruin of the Toolse castle (Q14956242) is a part of the village Toolse (Q368073). Some pictures of the Bildkatalog (228925, 228926, 161557) show some farmhouses or fisherhouses nearby the ruin and they belong to the village. In the Wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toolse you can find the picture https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toolse#/media/File:Toolse_linnuse_varemed_2015.jpg which shows the actual situation of the castle and the farmhouses.

In the Wikidata site Toolse (Q368073) you will find the statement P31 is a village and the picture https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Toolse_linnuse_varemed_2013.jpg which shows only the ruin of the castle and this is not confusing. Urban 3th (talk) 10:33, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

As said, I don't argue that images of the castle also depict its surroundings and the village. It's just that village and castle nonetheless are distinct entities (architectural structure and territorial entity). Somehow other users, beside Bildkatalog manager, should be able to check if items are correctly matched and which of these distinct entities is the external database entry about. If I go to Bildkatalog entry Q14956242 then at best there doesn't seem to be a way to become sure that given entry actually is about the village (really the metadata suggests that it isn't). 2001:7D0:81DA:F780:9C43:F29F:9F17:A0B7 11:25, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
