Architectural Drawings from the Albert Kahn and George D. Mason Firms 1888-1957 (English)
1 reference
The drawings range from 1888 to 1957 and cover residential, commercial, and ecclesial structures. They were created by the following architectural firms: Mason and Reed-Hill, Mason and Rice, Nettleton Kahn and Trowbridge, George D. Mason, and Albert Kahn. The structures represented are mostly in Detroit, Grosse Pointe, and Ann Arbor. The early Mason and Rice, and Nettleton Kahn and Trowbridge drawings are mostly residential and include elevations and plans. They are mostly blue or brown line reprographics with some hand applied color and are stored flat. The George D. Mason drawings (materials contained in the AVD/LIB boxes) mostly consist of details of internal features such as windows, moldings, and decorative features, and do not depict elevations or plans of exteriors. These are mostly pencil on thin tracing paper, folded, and have deep creasing. The Mason drawings are generally numbered 100 or higher; some are described in greater detail in the Record of Drawings inventories found in box RC2023.022. (English)
