Before August 31, 2016, 12-rated TV programs would only be broadcast between 8:00pm-6:00am on free-to-air TV. There are no restrictions on broadcasting time on pay TV, but regardless of the free-to-air TV channel is considered to have either UHF or VHF, it is required to follow the watershed until August 31, 2016. Starting from August 31, 2016, the watershed was normally removed because of a controversial decision by the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil. Please note that some TV channels can still use the given watershed or their own one. (English)
