It was indeed quite convenient that Aleksandra had very soon left St. Petersburg. On 6 November 1860 she married Lev Davydov, a well-to-do landowner and the son of a participant in the 1825 Decembrist rebellion against Tsar Nicholas I, and the couple went to live on his family's estate of Kamenka in the Ukraine.
