New, more specific items created edit
Next to this top-to-bottom (Q17321917), I have created two new items:
- vertical right-to-left (Q105395084) (applicable for sinograms (Q8201), Han)
- vertical left-to-right (Q105395085) (applicable for Mongolian (Q1055705))
All three are a script directionality (Q12055124). The options list for script directionality (P1406) should be extended.
Problem with this existing top-to-bottom (Q17321917) is that is does not dirrefentiate between colomn direction (ltr, rtl?), while this is an essential difference between Han (Chinese) and Mongolian writing. This difference is based in the origin of scripts, not just a recent printing issue. Reference sources are in the item (Unicode text chapters 18, 15). Better not to fiddle with this existring item (e.g., do not add a column direction specification); it could be in use anywhere to mean "this vertical order" only. -DePiep (talk) 20:00, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
