As laid down in Opinion 2027 the aurochs may be named:

  • Bos primigenius, when treated as a separate species (Q168903)
  • Bos primigenius primigenius, when treated as a subspecies (Q12255446)

Not possible is Bos taurus primigenius (as a subspecies), belonging to a (putative) joint Bos taurus (with three subspecies). Nevertheless this can be found in some sources. This item deals with the erroneous Bos taurus, as a name for the joint species.

As indicated, this is different from the correct use of Bos taurus as a name for domesticated cattle (Q20747334). - Brya (talk) 04:13, 21 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Having a label called "story of bos taurus" seems strange and, together with the taxonomy identifiers, wrong. Can you explain? Steak (talk) 21:53, 29 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
"Wrong" is the exact keyword. The gist can be found in Opinion 2027; this item gathers database identifiers which ignore the ICZN. - Brya (talk) 02:01, 30 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
