Category (categories) edit

@Mike Peel: what's up again? Category:Atmosphere (Q7110115) is general outline category, while Category:Planetary atmospheres (Q8764951) contains atmospheres of different bodies, so imho both are appropriate for this topic. --Infovarius (talk) 16:44, 31 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Infovarius: There should only be one topic's main category (P910) value, the first one makes sense here, the second doesn't. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 17:06, 31 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Mike Peel: "There should only be one topic's main category (P910) value" who said? Technical constraint? It can be adjusted/ignored if necessary. The second makes sense as I explained. Do you see said to be the same as (P460)? Please explain what main topic has the second if not Q8104. Not thanks yet. --Infovarius (talk) 20:45, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Infovarius: Three reasons: it's in the name "main" (you only have one main, you might have others secondary but that's related category (P7084)); having multiple values causes constraint violations (related to the first reason); and on the technical side, it makes it much more difficult to go from a Wikipedia article to a Commons category, since you can end up in a dead-end category item without a Commons sitelink instead of the correct one. Category:Planetary atmospheres (Q8764951) has category combines topics (P971), which is fine. Ideally this needs to be modeled better anyway to properly distinguish between the concept ('atmosphere') and instances of ('around planets'/'around solar system planets'), which is half there but not great. But I have other issues I'm working on, hence the triage... Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 13:47, 5 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

has part(s): air doesn’t make sense to me but someone else thinks it’s correct edit

I recently removed the statement has part(s): air from this item because you cannot assume that every star’s and planet’s atmosphere is made out of air (i. e. 78 % nitrogen, 21 % oxygen)!

However, the change was recently reverted by Infovarius and I don’t want to start an edit war. — keepright! ler (talk) 14:00, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, this argument completely valid, my mistake. --Infovarius (talk) 21:13, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
