Mathematician
edit@David Eppstein The source says she is a mathematician. You shouldn't make your own assumptions. I propose to to roll back your edit. Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 18:46, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
- Her home page describes her as an educational psychologist and health educator. This is the "occupation" tag, and should only be used for people who have mathematician as their occupation. I can find no believable evidence that this is true for her. Far too many Wikidata items list an "occupation" of mathematician for people whose only work as a mathematician is getting an undergraduate degree in the subject. That is not an occupation and she should not be listed that way. Those bad classifications are clogging up lists based on these tags such as en:Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by occupation/Mathematicians, filling them with non-mathematicians, which is why I have been removing them when I find them. Please do not reinstate this tag without clear evidence that she had an OCCUPATION of being a mathematician, not just a likely-erroneous and too-vague-to-be-clearly-interpretable tag in a national database. —David Eppstein (talk) 18:50, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
- @David Eppstein I understand your position but I still find this approach wrong, we're building a database based on available sources, and the database of the National Library is one of them. Anyway, my bot will likely re-add this occupation sooner or later based on automatic synchronizations. Could you at least deprecate the statement with reason for deprecated rank (P2241) : error in referenced source or sources (Q29998666) instead of plainly removing it? - Polishing turds but keeping them in place is pointless effort that does not do anything to affect the reasons why this listing is problematic for me. —David Eppstein (talk) 18:58, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
- @David Eppstein That's not true. Deprecated statements will not show up in your :isteria-based tables. Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 19:01, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
