The number of retries after hitting maxlag (5) is too low and should be increased to 1000. This is because Query Service lag is updated every minute. See also Topic:Vbgypuu9k0q1pvz5.

Retry time should not be something fixed, but something which increases if you get it or not. So 5, 10, 20, 40, 80, etc. This also makes sure that not all tools restart at the same time (or in this case a 5 second window).
