Maro
editThe two entries of Maro can't be merged, because they both contain a sitelink to an article on frwiki. As long as there are two articles on frwiki about Maro, both linked to Wikidata, there need to be two items on Wikidata. Problem has to be solved on frwiki. There both articles need to be merged and after they have been merged on of the two links will become a redirect and can be deleted. After that it is possible to merge the items on Wikidata. Both items currently are notable according to WD:N, so deletion isn't an option. Mbch331 (talk) 20:55, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

Combining P39s

Please be careful when trying to merge position held (P39) statements. A claim like https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q17315718&oldid=1677603893#P39 states that this person was a member of all those parliamentary groups and all those parties throughout that entire period, which is incorrect, and also causes problems when querying the data, as this person will now get 12 results, one for each of those permutations. When someone changes party or faction during a period, that will almost always require having a separate P39 for each. Oravrattas (talk) 05:59, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- I don't agree. Each fonction correspond to one mandate. If the MEP change party ou parlementary group during the mandate, we have to precise the date of changment, but it is not possible for the moment.
For instance Laurențiu Rebega change 3 times of party and 4 times of parlementary group, but there id only one mandate !

Qualifiers cannot be multiplied in this way. A change in any of the qualifiers necessitates a new statement. - I am sorry, but a mandate is defined by a single election. If an elected official changes party or parliamentary group during his or her mandate, this cannot be indicated by a change of mandate (or "value"), but by indicating these changes within the mandate. Could someone familiar with Wikidata make these changes? I will informe the Wikidata french project, to see what is their opinion and what they can do ? --Berdea (talk) 10:45, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- It is not possible to express the data the way you are trying to. Combining multiple values for a given qualifier within a single statement does not mean what you seem to think it does, and futhermore your changes are losing the information on when things happen etc. Please stop vandalising data that has been carefully entered, and throwing away meaningful information, simply because you do not like a model that has already been agreed, and is widely used.
