Undid edit

edit

Hi Infopetal, I undid one of your edits because I think it conflated two different people. Just FYI in case you want to find the right item (or create a new item) for that artist file. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:40, 26 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much for catching that Calliopejen1! –Infopetal (talk) 04:36, 26 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

[WMF Board of Trustees - Call for feedback: Community Board seats] Meetings with the Wikidata community

edit

The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees is organizing a call for feedback about community selection processes between February 1 and March 14. While the Wikimedia Foundation and the movement have grown about five times in the past ten years, the Board’s structure and processes have remained basically the same. As the Board is designed today, we have a problem of capacity, performance, and lack of representation of the movement’s diversity. Our current processes to select individual volunteer and affiliate seats have some limitations. Direct elections tend to favor candidates from the leading language communities, regardless of how relevant their skills and experience might be in serving as a Board member, or contributing to the ability of the Board to perform its specific responsibilities. It is also a fact that the current processes have favored volunteers from North America and Western Europe. In the upcoming months, we need to renew three community seats and appoint three more community members in the new seats. This call for feedback is to see what processes can we all collaboratively design to promote and choose candidates that represent our movement and are prepared with the experience, skills, and insight to perform as trustees?

In this regard, two rounds of feedback meetings are being hosted to collect feedback from the Wikidata community. Two rounds are being hosted with the same agenda, to accomodate people from various time zones across the globe. We will be discussing ideas proposed by the Board and the community to address the above mentioned problems. Please sign-up according to whatever is most comfortable to you. You are welcome to participate in both as well!

Also, please share this with other volunteers who might be interested in this. Let me know if you have any questions. KCVelaga (WMF), 14:32, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Charlotte Nasmyth

edit

Hi Infopetal, I was wondering if you could take a look at the bottom of the article, these references do not seem to be okay. Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 06:06, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Lotje, unfortunately I'm not a Wikipedia editor nor a Welsh speaker, so I am not certain how to resolve the errors on the Welsh Wikipedia page for Charlotte Nasmyth. However, her Wikidata item is part of a project I am working on so I have gone through and added references where missing there in the event those references are derived from Wikidata. Sorry to not be of more help! --Infopetal (talk) 18:34, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you anyway Infopetal to take the time to look at it. :-) Lotje (talk) 05:14, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Digging a bit deeper, I came accross this and wonder if that my be the reason. Lotje (talk) 05:21, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Use of deprecated rank

edit

On Whitney Museum of American Art (Q639791) you set the location (P276) 945 Madison Avenue (Q105724647) to deprecated. This is incorrect usage of the deprecated rank. Deprecated rank should only be used for statements that turned out to be incorrect. In this case the Whitney was located on Madison Avenue. When you set that to deprecated you're saying that the Whitney was never in that building. Multichill (talk) 16:31, 13 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Create 99 Gansevoort Street (Q106843470) to fill the hole. Probably good use some expansion. Multichill (talk) 14:40, 15 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Possible duplication

edit

Is the item Q107104092 you created the same as Q376629? I notice the Frick spells the name both Schreiber and Scheiber on its page, and your item links to the LCNAF for Scheiber. Arcadialib (talk) 18:40, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ditto for Q97582751 and Q1358203. Arcadialib (talk) 18:43, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for catching both of these, Arcadialib. I agree they are both duplicates and have merged them. (The name you see in the MARC 245 of the linked records is a transcribed from legacy documentation, but in both these cases it appears whoever cataloged each selected the standardized version of the name from LCNAF for the MARC 100.) Let me know if you find any other possible duplicates and want a second opinion. --Infopetal (talk) 04:04, 6 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Frick Art Reference Library Artist File old format

edit

Hi! Thanks for having removed some old-format Frick Art Research Library Artist File ID (P7848) I added; can I delete old MnM catalog https://mix-n-match.toolforge.org/#/catalog/3556, so that other users won't make the same mistake? Thanks! --Epìdosis 08:42, 3 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Epìdosis, yes, the #3556 catalog can be deleted if you have that capability, as it's now been replaced with #5070. I'd tried to unmark the "Active" status in the catalog editor as well as requested help on the MnM talk page but had not been successful in sunsetting it just yet, so I appreciate the help! --Infopetal (talk) 20:34, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
  Done, deactivated 3556. Thank you, --Epìdosis 20:46, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Regarding the old format of Frick Art Research Library Artist File ID (P7848), we still have a problem: references for date of birth (P569) and date of death (P570) still contain the old format (and, BTW, don't contain retrieved (P813); see e.g. Pierre Le Tellier (Q97582458)); could you get them fixed? Thanks, --Epìdosis 09:24, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Epìdosis, I'm aware of this but don't actually know how to fix the issue en masse. I believe for the most part those references were added with Mix'n'Match. If you or anyone else reading this knows how to update these, I'd be happy to help support any way that I can. --21:01, 26 July 2022 (UTC) Infopetal (talk) 21:01, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Infopetal: There's no easy way, since the easiest would be QuickStatements but as of now it cannot edit existing references. So I would suggest you to file a request at WD:Bot requests asking to substitute the old-format values of Frick Art Research Library Artist File ID (P7848) in references with the value present in the Frick Art Research Library Artist File ID (P7848) statement in the same item. Someone will take care of it, at some point. --Epìdosis 21:08, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Finding out the Freebase

edit

Hi Info Petal,

I've always asked myself how to find out a Freebase ID [1]. May you please explain it?--Digital Grammars (talk) 17:07, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Digital Grammars, I believe there are multiple ways to find them, but I look them up using this Google Knowledge Graph API Explorer tool. If the ID begins with /m/, it is a Freebase ID, if it begins with a /g/ it is a Google Knowledge Graph ID. Entities should typically only have one or the other. Hope this helps! --Infopetal (talk) 13:59, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Due diligence

edit

I'm 99.9% sure this was just a mistake on your part. What did you actually mean to do there? DS (talk) 23:00, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Assuming you are referring to the alias, I've just removed it. It was likely a parsing error in OpenRefine. --Infopetal (talk) 12:58, 14 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Jehan II Limosin and Jean II Limousin ?

edit

Hello, you created a (Q97340270 ) page for Jean II Limousin. I think it is the same guy as Jehan II Limosin (Q3176772). What do you think ? Faithfully yours. Faqscl (talk) 13:27, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Agree these appear to be the same person so I have merged the two items. Thanks @Faqscl! --Infopetal (talk) 16:35, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
