Gutenberg editions edit

In most cases, Gutenberg editions should be created as their own data items. They should never be added to data items for works, and should only be added to data items for an edition if the Gutenberg text matches that edition. Gutenberg texts, especially older texts on the site, frequently have been edited to modern standards, are missing significant portions of the edition, or have been matched to multiple editions, and so are a new edition unique to Gutenberg.

For this and other reasons, it is usually best to create a new data item for each Gutenberg edition. --EncycloPetey (talk) 22:04, 25 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
