Logo of Wikidata

Welcome to Wikidata, Jan Ainali (WMSE)!

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:

  • Introduction – An introduction to the project.
  • Wikidata tours – Interactive tutorials to show you how Wikidata works.
  • Community portal – The portal for community members.
  • User options – including the 'Babel' extension, to set your language preferences.
  • Contents – The main help page for editing and using the site.
  • Project chat – Discussions about the project.
  • Tools – A collection of user-developed tools to allow for easier completion of some tasks.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask on Project chat. If you want to try out editing, you can use the sandbox to try. Once again, welcome, and I hope you quickly feel comfortable here, and become an active editor for Wikidata.

Menu Challenge edit

So, you just get points by doing stuff like this? If so, can I join? --AmaryllisGardener talk 18:37, 7 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Exactly. That edit would have given you 2 points (if were on an item in the contest during the contest time). So it is very is to join! Jan Ainali (WMSE) (talk) 18:52, 7 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation ? edit

Hello Jan, I have updated a link on the list of items for the menu challenge in this diff, but after that I am wondering if it is ok or if I should have asked you before, or feel free to revert my update if there is a problem with it. Symac (talk) 09:49, 10 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I reverted it because both items should be in the list now (backstory is on the talk page). The same goes for the other disambiguations mentioned there. If you find a new one, please post it on the talk page. Jan Ainali (WMSE) (talk) 09:52, 10 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Reviewing a draft of a proposal for a new reference edit

Hi Jan,

I've received your name from Jonas Öberg at Commons Machinery. We are investigating if we can add Commons Machinery's products of Elog.io of about 21 million perceptual hashes to Wikidata. To be able to do so we would very much like your feedback on our draft proposal at a sandboxpage I created.

Kind regards,
