Merging items

Hallo Jianhui67,

When you are merging items, please use the Merge.js gadget. It helps you nominating, gives the option to always keep the lower number (which is older, so preferable) and makes it a lot easier for the admins to process the requests.

With regards, -      - (Cycn/talk) 07:55, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

I have just enabled the tool. Thank you. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 07:56, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
I've noticed. Nice work! -      - (Cycn/talk) 08:23, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
Hi Jianhui. Why do you merge with empty items (like Q10181663 into Q9410776, Q10181680 into Q9410779)? As far as I can see (unfortunately, it's not possible to actually see the complete content of a previous version of an item without using a tool that has not yet been developed), those items had been completely empty before, so they could have been deleted easily. Where's the benefit of those merges? --YMS (talk) 09:37, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
I actually look at Special:ShortPages to look for QIDs to request deletion. Unfortunately, those Q9410??? are in that page. I merged everything from Q1017???? - Q1018???? to those Q9410???. What is wrong with that? Jianhui67 talkcontribs 09:42, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
It's just unnecessary work. E.g. for Q9410776, User:Kazik Rex had merged it into Q10181663 the day before. He/she did not request deletion, so the empty leftover Q9410776 survived. It's good that you find those, but wouldn't it be easier (for you and the admin who deletes those items) to simply request a deletion (there's also a gadget to do this in one click ;)) without performing another merge in the other direction? To be realistic, in the cases that I saw, it doesn't really matter and I wouldn't say you did something wrong - those are only internally used category pages, and between Kazik Rex's merge and your merge, there have been only like 12 hours. But in the long run, we should avoid moving items more often than necessary, as every move might destroy internal or external links (that might be invisible for us). --YMS (talk) 09:56, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Darkcore

Hello Jianhui67 :)

I see you have restored the English link for Darkcore. Although it seems to match, it deals with different music that should not be confused. The English article talks about a jungle music whereas the other articles talks about a hardcore music:

Jungle darkcore Hardcore darkcore
[1] [2]

It should not be merged. Ftiercel (talk) 08:38, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

Sorry if I did that. But thanks for correcting me. :) JianhuiMobile talk 08:40, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
I have also renamed the node "Doomcore", because this name is not ambiguous. Ftiercel (talk) 21:16, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
