Just an idea edit

It might be better if you make one big bulk request for non-notable items rather than sevsral seperate ones Trade (talk) 17:27, 7 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Trade I typically only have a couple at a time, often with differing explanations (self-promotion vs simple lack of notability vs resubmitted etc.). But sure, I can group those together if it helps. –JustAnotherArchivist (talk) 17:35, 7 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
By the way, I abandoned that again for two reasons: 1) I noticed that those bulk requests are acted on significantly slower than the individual ones. Not that I blame anyone for that; I'd do the same if I were an admin as it's easier to tackle small independent tasks whenever one has a few seconds to spare. 2) I'm doing most my deletion requests with the gadget now, which is simply far more convenient. And that doesn't support 'select for deletion, later submit a bulk request' or similar. –JustAnotherArchivist (talk) 17:05, 22 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

I notice that you sometimes mention that the nominated item have been previously deleted. If you find an item that has been previously deleted and both items (read: the deleted and recreated item) were made by registrered users, you should preferable submit a checkuser request. --Trade (talk) 03:25, 29 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, will keep that in mind! I don't usually keep track of the item creators though. Is this information available anywhere after deletion (to mere mortals like me)? –JustAnotherArchivist (talk) 04:35, 29 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Deletion requests edit

Hi.

I noticed your deletion requests. Personally, I don't care if the pages get deleted, I just want to touch on the reason you gave for your requests.

If you're going to request the deletion of non-notable subjects, then I suggest also nominating Q106561286, Q106561610, Q106561514, Q106561232, Q106561637, and most of the One True King lineup since they also don't demonstrate notability. I'm only giving examples because I can't find any Wikidata policies on notability.

Just wanted to help you out. :) L337m4n (talk) 01:50, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi, and thank you! I'll take a look at those. You can find the notability policy at Wikidata:Notability. It's a bit of a fight against windmills especially due to the amount of promotional spam being submitted, but every little bit helps, I guess, so I request anything like that I come across. But yeah, there's definitely still a lot of it out there. –JustAnotherArchivist (talk) 02:01, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@L337m4n I took a look tonight. For the items you linked directly, it doesn't look great, but there are seemingly independent references, and that establishes notability as far as Wikidata is concerned. For example, [1][2][3] mention all five of those in some way. One True King as a whole is certainly notable (numerous references and enwiki page), and while the individual members might not all be by themselves, structural need also establishes notability (criterion 3). So overall, I think these are acceptable (although they could certainly use more references). –JustAnotherArchivist (talk) 04:27, 27 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Q2839137 → Instead of reversing... can you delete? edit

Hello. I don't really know how Wikidata works. I cannot delete the item myself. According to this, I have to order it here. I have asked for it but no one has helped me. So I don't know how the items are deleted anymore. It is very poorly explained. If you see that I am asking to delete the item, could you delete it instead of reverting my edit? Let's not make a ball of this. Thank you. El Mono Español (talk) 20:13, 25 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I reverted Q28122470 so people could see what the item represents. There was some brief discussion on IRC about how to approach this situation but without a clear conclusion. The Latin American vs Spanish version of the dish may deserve to be represented separately, but an article describing both (such as the one on eswiki since the merging) can't be attached to either Wikidata item. I'll follow up on this tomorrow soon. –JustAnotherArchivist (talk) 01:08, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
