Hi Llywelyn2000

Good to see you around.

Just a note on films: in most languages we avoid adding labels if there is no localized title, e.g. French would remain blank until there is French title or the original title is used as "French" title.

Llywelyn2000 (talkcontribs)

Many thanks. The problem with that is that the films will not be visible on Wikipedia (Wikidata listss) unless we have the cy label. eg https://cy.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhestr_ffilmiau_o%27r_19eg_ganrif - where the Qid appears rather than the name of the film. Please advise. PS the anti-abuse measure, is in effect, so I can't correct the ones already done. ~~~~

Llywelyn2000 (talkcontribs)

eg the director column. ~~~~

Jura1 (talkcontribs)

You could use ?l and item in the columns after updating

You might need to stop the other batches before undoing. Alternatively, one could overwrite them with a blank label.

Llywelyn2000 (talkcontribs)

Thanks Jura! Tried adding ?l, but Listeria seems to be on its last legs! Please check. I've stopped the 2 x batches and will correct the labels.

Llywelyn2000 (talkcontribs)

I need to add list of director names in cy! Thanks again!

Jura1 (talkcontribs)
  SELECT ?item (COUNT(*) as ?films)
    VALUES ?filmtype {wd:Q11424 wd:Q24862 wd:Q20667187 wd:Q226730} .
    ?f wdt:P31 ?filmtype .
    # ?f wdt:P577 ?released .
    ?f wdt:P57 ?item .
    # FILTER (?released < "1900-01-01T00:00:00Z"^^xsd:dateTime)
  GROUP BY ?item
} as %filmcount
    hint:Query hint:optimizer "None".
    INCLUDE %filmcount
    # select directors without label in cy
    FILTER NOT EXISTS { ?item rdfs:label ?cylabel . FILTER( lang(?cylabel) = "cy" ) }
    SERVICE wikibase:label {
      bd:serviceParam wikibase:language "[AUTO_LANGUAGE],en,nl,es,de,pt,nn,fr".
      ?item rdfs:label ?l .
ORDER BY DESC (?films)

Try it!

Scottish peak constraint violations

SilentSpike (talkcontribs)

Hey, great work on creating further links between DoBIH and wikidata items!

The constraint violations on DoBIH Number (P6515) illuminate some interesting edge cases.

From what I can see Beinn Bheag (653m) (Q13125811) and Q13125809 are duplicate pages on the Welsh wikipedia (I'll leave that one to you). As for the rest of them, I have responded to your post on the property discussion page.

I'm not sure to understand the rank change on Special:Diff/793895393, why did you do that? (it does not seems to be the usual use of ranking).

Llywelyn2000 (talkcontribs)

It has more sources defining it as such, than République or country imho. But might be 'République' as it is in the official name. Yet, sources should win over official name. Secondly, it's used in cy:Ffrainc, so prefered is better than long list, if possible.

Hi Llywelyn2000,

Maybe the discussion at Wikidata:Requests_for_deletions#Graphemes_in_Lexemes could gain from input from a different linguistic background. It's mainly a namespace question (imo).

Admittedly, the same for English would be more complicated to make use of and probably shouldn't be created (there are too many) nor would there be much benefit for languages where there isn't a big gap between letters and phonemes (e.g. Italian).

Thanks, I'm doing fine, except that it might still be spending too much time on the project ;) Hope this finds you well too.

Pages at Wikipedia that have an item associated with them can directly use properties without specifying the item they draw the information from. This may explain why the map works in an article, but not on the template documentation page.

enwiki did some experiments on how to use quantities, see w:Module_talk:WikidataIB/sandbox/testing#Scaling_quantities. Maybe these can be made to work.

Llywelyn2000 (talkcontribs)

Many thanks Jura! Spot on, once again! ~~~~

As development of the module is done on enwiki, its talk page might be a good place to ask about it.

There is also a module developed in French Wikipedia and another one in Russian, but I'm not sure how they currently compare.

Llywelyn2000 (talkcontribs)

Thanks Jura. Updating solved the GDP / long numbers, but could only update up unit July, as errors then creep in. I've raised the matter on the module talk page as suggested by you. Thanks again for your help! ~~~~

Hey Jura I'm happy as Larry!

Doug too, came to my rescue and did the recent update. He spotted this cockup I did a couple of years ago! So all is well! Thanks again! ~~~~

Hi Llywelyn2000,

Yesterday, I noticed that you made this proposal, but omitted to add it to the summary page. So it wasn't really handled. I did that now, but if you might want to withdraw it, if you don't plan to use it. Datatype should probably be "external-id" instead of "string".

BTW, how did you come across this?

Llywelyn2000 (talkcontribs)

Hi Jura!

Wikidata:Property proposal/ONS - Community codes was done well over year ago, and, yes it would be good to get them on WD. My aim, really, is to created maps, charts etc on cywiki, which would refresh automatically.

Re: Property proposal/Model item for - I've known John for 6 years, and keep an eye on his edits, which are usually a view into the glass-ball of the future. Do you feel strongly against? If so, can you elaborate for idiots like me. I can look at it again.

Jura1 (talkcontribs)

We might already have a property for the identifier, but the value on Q20592546#P836 is different. Maybe it's just the wrong item.

For the model one: not really a big issue, but as you seem to have hesitated between supporting one, or both, I'd support the second instead of the first for the reasons explained there. Douglas Adams isn't going to complain about additions or removals of such statements, but living people might find it odd.

BTW, the new lexeme namespace is taking shape. It might not have reached the threshold of usefulness, but it can be used to experiment: some Welsh ones. Queries aren't possible yet and some of its features aren't compatible with the Wiktionaries. It works better for some languages than others.

Llywelyn2000 (talkcontribs)

Thanks Jura1!
