Hi, @Lynn.Kamerlin: - you wrongly create items in Wikidata - it's no Wikipedia, but database for all Wikipedias! First read and learn some helpful things for new users and THEN create any Items, Qualifiers and Properties, please. Most of your bad editions I see will be probably removed. --Jasc PL (talk) 17:40, 2 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, @Jasc PL: - Thanks for pointing this out. I was following the format for existing items, I didn't create the original pages, just following what the person before me had done. I will read the user guide(s) before continuing. --Lynn.Kamerlin 18:45, 2 March 2018 (CET)
@Lynn.Kamerlin: {{ping|Username}} probably don't work here so as generating visible notice or alert for receiver of your msg - try {{re|Username}} .
It's a normal way that near every new user would see their own work on pages now, but remember - Wikidata is a giant database; have strict architecture, hierarchy and arrangement. Don't be angry if some of your editions will be deleted or reverted to earlier state - dot't be afraid - try!
Look at much more various items, how they are created, make comparison between them and learn in practice. Feel free to click to every Qualifier, Property, Value (especially before applying changes :) and read how and where to use them. You are not alone here - more experienced users (so far - not me :) can always help you!
Take care of sources (links) you use - they should be a primary and valuable they don't "disappear" in near time.
Forgive me that my first short message could sound not so nice - welcome on board, contribute and enjoy! :) --Jasc PL (talk) 19:31, 2 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks @Jasc PL: :) I will apply your suggestions, and look forward to contributing! -- Lynn.Kamerlin 20:35, 2 March 2018 (CET)
My pleasure, @Lynn.Kamerlin: :). Maybe, would you lake to create your own User page - until now you are RED? Look also at Preferences - you can switch-on some very useful things there.
Have a good weekend! --Jasc PL (talk) 20:26, 2 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Aaaa... when we discuss like here and in other places - very good idea is to make indentations like this, and, if you wrote about some separate things
  • you can simply
    • place them
  • separated
  • as you wish
  • Nice and practical, isn't it? )
Yes, it is :) Re: user page, this is actually me: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q42352992. Is there a way to link this to my user profile to avoid redundancy, or do I need to do a separate user page linked to my login? Have a good weekend you too :) Lynn.Kamerlin 21:50, 2 March 2018 (CET)
@Lynn.Kamerlin: Hmmmm.... generally, it's a very bad idea to create Item, something like a "private page" in Wikidata. It's a wrong place for that; Wikidata is not like a phone book, internet profile or so. But... there are some exceptions - you have some valuable accomplishments... I don't know... The best idea is to ask others, also admins about it on Wikidata:Requests_for_comment on page Wikidata:Community portal
At the top of this discussion window you can see two tabs: Discussion and by the left User page - there you can place everything you wish, about you - except pasting copyrighted materials, pornography, every kind of abuse etc.
BTW - do you know Polish?? --Jasc PL (talk) 22:15, 2 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:

  • Introduction – An introduction to the project.
  • Wikidata tours – Interactive tutorials to show you how Wikidata works.
  • Community portal – The portal for community members.
  • User options – including the 'Babel' extension, to set your language preferences.
  • Contents – The main help page for editing and using the site.

Best regards!

"My talk page" is a default content of above template, of course. --Jasc PL (talk) 12:19, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you @Jasc PL:. In general, I prefer other people to decide whether they think I have valuable accomplishments or not, I don't like writing about "how great I am", so I think I will leave my Wikidata profile page alone, and let other people adjust it, and then create a normal profile for my Lynn.Kamerlin user ID. I wish I spoke Polish - I actually have some (distant) Polish roots, and have visited Poland many times, Sopot, Wroclaw, Lodz, etc. Poland is an amazing country! (going slightly OT ;)) Lynn.Kamerlin 17:04, 3 March 2018 (CET)
Hey @Lynn.Kamerlin:, nice to see you here again. Maybe you wrong understand my last message, sorry - my English is... as you see. Możemy pisać po polsku? Shina Caroline Lynn Kamerlin (Q42352992) is not your "profile" at Wikidata - it's a, so called, Item in database.
I just added http://www.kamerlinlab.com/ as your official website, maybe described at URL will be better - you decide what it's more properly. Feel free to put, under Identifiers some other Properties like Twitter username, Google+ ID, YouTube Playlist ID. I see, that new Item "Kamerlin Lab" could be also created, and linked in both sides with Shina Caroline Lynn Kamerlin (Q42352992). About your languages and knowledge - maybe you would like to use Babelmap?"
So, many years ago, I was some times in Sweden; Stockholm and Malmö - it's a beautiful country. --Jasc PL (talk) 22:44, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hey @Jasc PL:, great, thank you for the tips :) I am in the middle of an epic trip back to Europe, which I have been trying to take since Wednesday but have failed because of the bad weather. As soon as I get home I will look at this :) Lynn.Kamerlin (talk) 21:20, 4 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
OK @Lynn.Kamerlin:, have a good rest of trip! :) --Jasc PL (talk) 21:44, 4 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
