IQ edit

Hello,

I agree that this such property should have a mandatory point in time (P585) qualifier - but not in cases of fictive humans, just like Forrest Gump. Don't you think so? Nomen ad hoc (talk) 15:28, 28 July 2019 (UTC).Reply

Agree. The date is also not necessary if the reference for the claim has a date. --SCIdude (talk) 15:30, 28 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Compounds and ions edit

Classification trees for chemical compounds and anions are separated in WD, so:

Wostr I was wondering about the ion class, and I'll create it. By separating ions and compounds trees you are diverging from how ChEBI does it. How do you place zwitterions and ionic radicals? It might lead to duplication. Anyway, I'm adding classes that I think are needed for molbio, and I might also do some more maintenance in chem in the future. --SCIdude (talk) 05:54, 23 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

The distinction is based on the charge of the molecule, zwitterions are electrically neutral. WD and ChEBI classifications are different and are likely to become even more different as the number of items increases. What's more, chemical compounds are treated in WD as chemical substances, ions — as molecular entities. conjugate base (P4149), conjugate acid (P4147) are used for linking between chemical compounds and ions; tautomer of (P6185) is used for linking between tautomer (so also between neutral form and zwitterionic form).
Also, ChEBI classification of ions and chemical compounds is not consistent. Some ions are placed in the classification tree along chemical compounds, some are placed in its own tree, linked to chemical compounds with isConjugateBaseOf/isConjugateAcidOf statements. There is, however, one fundamental difference: ChEBI treats items like nitrogen molecular entity and nitrogen compound as synonyms, we cannot do the same — ChEBI is a database with a specific narrow scope, WD is a database of almost everything. It is possible that in the future we may have different items for chemical compound (chemical substance) and molecular entity it is composed of (like ethane and ethane molecule, one in the classification tree of chemical substances, the second of molecular entities along with ions). Lipids edit

I don't think that this edit is correct. Lipids are not a class of compounds with similar structure, according to GoldBook only its origin and some properties are similar. Regards, Wostr (talk) 16:11, 23 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Done. Thanks. --SCIdude (talk) 16:23, 23 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
