Welcome to Wikidata, Te og kaker!

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:

  • Introduction – An introduction to the project.
  • Wikidata tours – Interactive tutorials to show you how Wikidata works.
  • Community portal – The portal for community members.
  • User options – including the 'Babel' extension, to set your language preferences.
  • Contents – The main help page for editing and using the site.
  • Project chat – Discussions about the project.
  • Tools – A collection of user-developed tools to allow for easier completion of some tasks.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask on Project chat. If you want to try out editing, you can use the sandbox to try. Once again, welcome, and I hope you quickly feel comfortable here, and become an active editor for Wikidata.

Best regards!

Hi! While I am not encouraging you to restore any of your recent changes, I wanted to draw your attention to a few aspects of editing here that may assist you in the future:

  • References are important, especially for controversial claims. Citing a controversial claim to a reliable source that supports it makes an immense difference.
  • Qualifiers are also useful for controversial claims, in particular statement supported by (P3680) and statement disputed by (P1310).
  • Edit warring is never a good approach. If your edits are reverted, don't just keep reinstating them, but try something different: change the edit; improve the claim with references and qualifiers; start a conversation; bring in other editors.
  • Edit summaries are a good place to explain what your edit is. They can also be used to explain why an edit is appropriate, but should not be used in place of references or qualifiers. They should not be used to direct remarks at other editors, and never for a abuse.

I see you are active at other WMF projects, so I'm sure you have encountered some of these points before, but I thought a quick reminder might be helpful for you. Bovlb (talk) 17:57, 14 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
