Thanks Bináris! It's like a voyage of discovery for me! With over 90k edits on Wikipedia, I'm now determined to find out how to help here, the concept seems brilliant, so I'm very keen to contribute. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:35, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata 101 edit

So I think these would be good things to cover:

  • How to find the Q### page of an item (Special:ItemByTitle)
  • How to add/remove sitelinks.
  • How to merge two pages (this is an open bug on bugzilla)
  • What to do if "sitelink is already in use" (WD:IC)
  • "I'm new here, tell me what to do and I'll help"
  • Useful JS/toolserver tools/bots that can be used
  • What properties are, and how to use them. Links to WD:PP, WD:P.
  • A list of commonly asked bugs, like GA/FA icons, when is phase 2 coming, a page got moved.
  • A non-technical explanation how the conflict between local vs foreign langlinks works.

Just a start, if you can create a page somewhere, I will add in some more things :) Legoktm (talk) 20:56, 21 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is a really nice starting list. I'll need a day or so to get my head around what we're all trying to achieve, and to prioritise the features and address the issues that have been brought up at Wikipedia, but I think it'd be ace if we could do a 101, particularly if we could then approach a few Wikipedia admins/main editors, if anything just to let them know what's going on so they can either choose to become part of it or, at least, acknowledge the mechanisms and understand what's going on. Tsk tsk. Don't make me block you!

Jk I trigger them all the time. On En, some days I've tripped one of the bots' filters upward of 10 times. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 19:48, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Heh. I'm not even sure how you could change the edit summaries in most cases! The Rambling Man (talk) 20:18, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
