Questions edit

  • Q: How did it turn out?
  • Q: How should I name pronunciation files I upload to Wikimedia Commons?
  • Q: What illustration should I pick?
    • A: The most important is to have images that illustrate the ingredients well and that has a good technical quality. They can really make a difference for the menus. Also, we certainly wouldn't mind if you choose images that also look tasty!
  • Q: Why are you not giving points for descriptions that are added? They are very important!
    • A: They sure are! However, the goal with this particular project is to create a useful menu that we can show to people. Hence, we are focusing on the data the visitors will actually see. Therefore descriptions and other additions has a lower priority right now and we don't give points for them. If you could start with the translations, images and pronunciation recordings we would be very grateful!
  • Q: How do I know what is left to translate?
    • A: The easiest way is to go to the list of items that are included in the challenge (here). The list of words will be in your language if they already have been translated (or otherwise in English, which is the fallback language on Wikidata). On the statistics page you can see how many items are left to translate in each language (updates every hour).
  • Q: Okay, that make sense. But I know more than one language. How can I see what is left in the other language that I know?
    • A: If you know more than one language, use the language setting button (next to your user name in the right top corner) to change to your preferred language. The list will adjust accordingly.
  • Q: How do I know what else is left to do?
    • A: On the statistics page you can see which items have images and which languages they have pronunciations for already. Also if you have hover cards turned on in your settings, you will see the image for the item by just hovering over the link.
  • Q: Adding properties is fun, listing what we have done to get a score is not, is it possible to automate the counting?
    • A: We will look into it, but cannot promise anything because it can be a bit complex.
  • Q: Are there any video tutorials?
    • A: Yes, now there are.
  • Q: Are there any useful tools?
    • A: Yes! For example, have a look at LabelLister. It might speed things up for you!
  • Q: The contest is finished. Who is winners?
    • A:
