- Motivation
International standard identification code for persons and legal entities used for copyright. Codes can be accessed by for example PictoRight ID code (P3361) Hannolans (talk) 14:20, 19 November 2016 (UTC)
This code is related to the IPI name code, a code commonly used in music copyright for the different synonyms/pseudonyms an artist can have. An artist can have multiple IPI name codes, but only one IPI base code and this base code is used by all copyright authority organisations. --Hannolans (talk) 00:11, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- Discussion
I think this is a great addition, the only drawback is that currently, only the dutch copyright organisation seems to publish the IPI codes (of authors worldwide, so that makes it more attractive). It would be more useful if there are more databases public available with the IPI-base code. For now, it would be great to add the IPI codes we can retreive from PictoRight. This will be around 500 to 20.000 artits --Hannolans (talk) 10:53, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
• Support. Once the IPI-base code is being used by more copyright authority organisations and collective rights organisations it will be a very helpful property to have because it makes it possible to check which artists and what work is being represented by what organisation.Mtmlan84 (talk) 14:54, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
