- Motivation
To document exhibition items on display in the collections. See these examples of Commons categories automatically generated from Wikidata information for the MEG [2] [3] [4] and for the Louvre [5] Rama (talk) 06:34, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
- Discussion
- Support but please clarify one point: what do you intend to do with the existing inventory number (P217) property when it exists? Replace it or save it? GAllegre (talk) 12:10, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
- From what I see on the cartels and on the websites, the Inventory Numbers are things like "ETHAM 014143", but also "ETHMU 045970"; I infer that there is a unique numerical identifyer prefixed with a department identifyer (in all likelihood, ETHAM → America, ETHMU → Music, etc). My first idea, unless you know better, would be to keep inventory number (P217) with the value "ETHAM 014143" and use the "eMeg_ID" (I am told that the name of the database is "eMeg") property to store "014143" and link back to the reference page on the official website (pretty much as we do for the Louvre). There might be a bit of duplication in many cases but this keeps flexibility open for unusual inventory numbers, should there be any. Rama (talk) 13:13, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
- I agree, we should keep both. --Thibaut120094 (talk) 13:32, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
- Sounds clear and consistent ; ok to keep both. GAllegre (talk) 20:57, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

--Shonagon (talk) 12:39, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
