Motivation edit

Andrew Pike and Ross Cooper's Australian Film 1900-1977 remains the singular authority on Australia film prior to the new wave of the mid-70s. The book contains a numerised list of around 500 films. It is especially useful in disambiguating early film with title overlaps (The Man They Couldn't Hang, For the Term of His Natural Life), and is already used as a reference on the relevant Wikipedia pages (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diggers_(1931_film), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clara_Gibbings, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmony_Row_(film)). Federation with data from the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia would enable an overview of extant early Australian cinema.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pxxlhxslxn (talk • contribs).

Discussion edit

  •   Not done I'm marking as not done because this proposal is still incomplete (e.g. the examples are missing and it's not clear what the values would be) and there has been no support for it. Feel free to reopen the proposal once it is more complete (if you need help improving it, I would recommend asking on Wikidata:Project chat). However, 500 is not very many, so I would only suggest trying to improve the proposal if there is an associated URL for the ID, otherwise it would better to model this in a more general way which can be used for other similar sources . - Nikki (talk) 03:01, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
