Motivation edit

My academic institution has a large collection of historic photographs featuring bridges, cemeteries, buildings, etc., throughout Indiana. Many of these items would require an intensive process to establish them in the Library of Congress Authority Files, but Wikidata seems like a better place to add this information. The Indiana State Historic Architectural and Archaeological Research Database is a great one-stop spot for information on historic Indiana cemeteries, theaters, and bridges and it seems odd to exclude it from item records for Indiana historical sites and structures.

(see Indiana Bridges Workshop 2022) that's related to the property

Discussion edit

  •   Comment What are the actual ID's you are proposing? The values in your examples don't seem to correspond to the underlying linked URL's?? ArthurPSmith (talk) 17:44, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The SHAARD-ID numbers are the id numbers for their surveys. You can link to this with a URLS (e.g., https://secure.in.gov/apps/dnr/shaard/structural_surveys.html?_flowExecutionKey=_c90E5FDA1-E16E-164F-F47F-687F22191748_k7CE15B75-8E36-9863-7FBB-5A28ABCD55C8), but I'm not sure that these are functioning like PURLS or that these will function as linked data. However, their surveys include a lot of information on bridge structure, materials, significance, condition, alterations, date moved, variant names, etc., so it is an extremely useful reference source, ownership, etc.
I'm open to suggestions for another way of supporting these survey identifiers in Wikidata. I'm new to proposing properties, but they didn't seem to work as items in and of themselves. I do know that the National Bridge Inventory Number property allows for the entry of an ID without functioning as linked data since their inventory only exists as a pdf document.       Oppose @Maps4Every1: The flowExecutionKey parameter is a temporary session identifier for your web browser's connection to the server (that is using Spring Framework (Q720314)). flowExecutionKey is not an identifier of any real world object. I've had a poke around and think that you could propose an identifier instead for "Indiana Historic Sites and Structures Inventory ID" (IHSSI ID) which for example is "071-398-55007" for Carr High School (Q24040236). There is no usable formatter URL for this identifier scheme from what I can see and to look up this value in SHAARD, you'd have to click through the disclaimer (creating a unique flowExecutionKey for your browser's session) and then search for the IHSSI ID and click through to the single search result returned. I suggest proposing IHSSI ID (which I'd   Support) as a new property and withdrawing this proposal. --Dhx1 (talk) 14:32, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
