Discussion edit
- Seems to be too specialized. name (P2561) along with subject has role (P2868) would likely be better. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 22:23, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
- We have other properties for Unicode characters like Unicode code point (P4213) (over 42,000 uses) as well as Unicode character (P487) and Unicode block (P5522) and normalized Unicode character (P5591). This doesn't seem any more specialised than those. - Nikki (talk) 10:24, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
- Comment I think this should be monolingual string rather than string data type? The official charts are published in English but presumably there are (could be? Should be!) translations into other languages. ArthurPSmith (talk) 17:58, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
- Well, the property request is for the official name. :) Monolingual text would feel wrong to me. While you can translate the names, and indeed Unicode has code charts in French, they explicitly say on the about page that they're not official and can change (unlike the official ones). - Nikki (talk)
- Strong support en:Unicode names are unique and distinguishing. It gives an indicative of the character the Unicode represents even if the Unicode is not installed.Vis M (talk) 18:25, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- This seems pretty well supported; I think it's ready. JesseW (talk) 14:42, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
