Motivation edit

"Corpus der barocken Deckenmalerei in Deutschland" is a long term funded art historical research project, which is creating a database containing detailed factsheets and longform, citation heavy, descriptive texts. There is also high quality and sometimes freely licensed photography of German art historical monuments and ceiling paintings from around 1550 until 1800.

The linked factsheets focus on general information about its subjects, but they also link to the long form articles e.g. this one corresponding to the first example.

The texts (in German) and images are often freely licensed and always marked with the right license. Also the linked texts contain extensive scientific sourcing, which could be useful for sourcing other statements about these objects in the future.

For a better feel about the scope of the project there is a map, but some of the items are still not finished and only stubs.
