Infoboxes for cities currently often state the population of the urban area in which the city is located. Having this property allows standardized linking of a city with it's urban area. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 18:53, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
Discussion edit
- Is this the same thing as a "metropolitan area"? Also, would this be used only for cities, and not other entities located in an urban agglomeration? --Yair rand (talk) 03:05, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Yair rand: I think it's the same meaning as "metropolitan area" and I'm open to changing the word if others consider that word to be better fitting.
- What examples do you have in mind when you speak about other enitties? ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 11:00, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
- Geographic features, buildings, etc. --Yair rand (talk) 07:21, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
- Isn't there an obvious issues in so far as there can be multiple levels of urban areas involved? The United State Census defines something like a half-dozen different types of urban areas of different levels... Circeus (talk) 00:17, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
