Robot and gadget jobs	bots could update copyright status (P6216) and public domain date (P3893) based on this, applies to jurisdiction (P1001), and other metadata. With care, bots may be able to set this based on author date of death (P570), publication date (P577)/inception (P571) and similar properties, though the determination of the relevant data can be quite tricky in some corner cases.

Motivation edit

It's currently very very difficult to derive a template content of the format "this work is in the public domain in PMA XX countries because the author died in YYYY".

See: Help_talk:Copyrights#Qualifying_a_copyright_claim_with_the_relevant_date for more details on why this is very hard to calculate from existing data.

This date would be use to qualify any copyright status that depends on a date. For example:

any work published before over 95 years ago in the US would put their publication date.
for claims in PMA jurisdictions, it would be the date of death of the last author with a copyright claim on the work (could be author, editor, illustrator, translator, etc.)

Comment From the samples, it seems this should be as a qualifier only. Can this be mentioned in |description= and |domain= of the proposal as well? Sample: "(qualifier)" and "|domain=qualifier of copyright status (P6216)" ? --- Jura 11:40, 16 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
