- Motivation
Same motivation as topic's main Wikimedia portal (P1151). This is an important navigational structure within Wikipedia (i.e., en:Wikipedia:Outlines). Outlines have their own WikiProject (i.e., en:Wikipedia:WikiProject_Outlines). We can better classify outline articles in Wikidata as well as support the WikiProject by adding this property. - Discussion
- Oppose This is achievable using the inverse relationship, instance of (P31) = Wikimedia outline article (Q26884324), qualified with main subject (P921), like this. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:26, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- OK, I take your point. So let's say that instead of the also-proposed 'Wikimedia outline's main topic', we start off with the item outline of knowledge (Q7112676) and claim instance of (P31) Wikimedia outline article (Q26884324) main subject (P921) knowledge (Q9081). Then to fulfill this particular proposed property, we somehow have to go from knowledge (Q9081) to outline of knowledge (Q7112676). That could be with a query that relies on main subject (P921) in the way you suggest, or with this proposed property. Queries are harder to write and their results are not immediately available on the item's page. If your item of interest is knowledge (Q9081), then it won't be trivial to query for its outline. By contrast, a property pattern like the topic's main Wikimedia portal (P1151) pair makes finding Portals really simple. I imagine that same simplicity for Outlines, despite having an existing solution that uses qualifiers. Runner1928 (talk) 18:43, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- Why a qualifier ? This is a claim about the article as a whole, and should be a claim on his own. author TomT0m / talk page 11:50, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- Question Are outlines mere navigational artefacts or are they actually works of knowledge or their own ? Something on the same level to an ontology (Q324254) . I like to consider items not as articles but as the topic of the article, I think this qualifies.author TomT0m / talk page 11:50, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- Comment described by source (P1343) might do.
