Discussion edit

@MSGJ: Thanks for starting this. I have Pywikibot code that gets the sitelink for a Wikidata item, which it does by looking at the sitelinks in the item, following topic's main category (P910) from the topic item to the category item, or following category related to list (P1754) from a list item to a category item. For example, see around line 185 of [1]. This mimics how WikidataIB gets the sitelink, and how the code in the MediaWiki sidebar now works. I hadn't thought about using P373 to set P910 values, which is worth exploring. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 17:40, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Any additions to the above would be welcome. I was thinking about using green font for actions which could be automated and red font for things which would need human review. Then we could try and determine how many cases were in each category which will give us an idea of how much work is involved! By the way do you have any categories/lists for tracking P373 and sitelink non-alignment? I would be interested in looking at some examples. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 18:28, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
See [2] - and more generally, Wikidata:Database reports/Complex constraint violations/P373 and Wikidata:Database reports/Constraint violations/P373. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 18:45, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

IMO number edit

What if P373 is to IMO number category of a ship and sitelink is the named category of the ship. What is the appropriate action to bring them into alignment? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:03, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

@MSGJ: Already sorted via category for ship name (P7782) (IMO number on the main item, ship name categories on linked categories). Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 18:41, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Redirects edit

In some cases is P373 category redirect. In most cases this can be narrowed, but there might be cases of deliberately redirect. JAn Dudík (talk)
