The German Advisory Commission had to decide the case of Julius Freund. Julius Freund had transferred the paintings in question to Switzerland in 1933 and had emigrated to London in 1939. He died there in 1941. In 1942 his family put up for auction the paintings in Luzern, Switzerland, in order to make money for their living. The German Advisory Commission recommended the restitution of the paintings to the heirs. (English)
