In our country, there are 2 common species of Hydrellia injurious to rice, wheat or barley, both of which are new to science and described in this paper with a comparison between the two and their allied species H. griseola (Fallen) (Figs. 1-3, 10) .Hydrellia sinica Fan et Xia, sp. nov. (Figs. 4-6, 11)Very similar to H. griseola (Fallen) in general feature, but the male of this new species apparently with a pair of flat nipple-like processes on median posterior margin of the basal part of 5th sternite.
