Edit request edit

{{Edit protected}} Please copy and paste the contents of {{Welcome/sandbox}} into {{Welcome}}. Contrary to the comments posted above, which are incorrect, it is possible to expand a signature in a template upon substitution. Since the parameter still works, the two current ways of using the template (subst and no subst) will remain available, but the change will allow {{subst:welcome}} to work as well. No consensus for change, you need to insert the signature manually. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 06:26, 13 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

What do you want to change it to? Senator2029 07:40, 8 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Senator2029: This. (Just noticed that I can edit it myself. ;) --- Jura 16:59, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

I know it's already mentioned almost everywhere, but should this welcome message say something about notability? (See, for example, this response.) Compare with MediaWiki:Wikibase-newitem-summary.

How about something like:

Items created at Wikidata must comply with our notability criteria or they are likely to be deleted and your account may be blocked. Also, we strongly discourage editors from creating items about themselves or for other entities where they have a conflict of interest.
