Welcome to Wikidata, 0xDeadbeef!

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:

  • Introduction – An introduction to the project.
  • Wikidata tours – Interactive tutorials to show you how Wikidata works.
  • Community portal – The portal for community members.
  • User options – including the 'Babel' extension, to set your language preferences.
  • Contents – The main help page for editing and using the site.
  • Project chat – Discussions about the project.
  • Tools – A collection of user-developed tools to allow for easier completion of some tasks.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.

I would strongly recommend you discontinue use of your 'autosense' script immediately. The presence of a P5137 makes redundant 'translation' links pointing to all other lexeme senses with that same P5137. If you wish to view indirect translations via P5137 links, this script should do the trick. Mahir256 (talk) 15:33, 4 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have stopped it. Thanks for the advice. I will try to limit the scope of the script to strictly fix symmetric constraints only. 0xDeadbeef (talk) 15:38, 4 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Mahir256: I'm not sure how they should be structured. Should we make it so that all of them only point to one root lexeme?
I also think identical senses should be able to exist outside of having a lexeme parent, because there are so many duplicated sense with labels to track. Has there been any previous discussions on that? 0xDeadbeef (talk) 15:44, 4 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
There is no need for any sense shared across languages to have a "lexeme parent". They could have an "item parent", which is what P5137 sort of is. Regardless, there is no need for an excess number of connections between senses to exist so long as there is a path from one lexeme sense to another in the same set (something I've tried to explain on this page). @Mahir256: Thanks. You can also use https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Writ_Keeper/Scripts/massRollback.js to quickly rollback all the changes I have made. 0xDeadbeef (talk) 15:58, 4 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
