simple/en

edit

you have a simple-en-language babel on your user page. please don't add labels, descriptions or aliases in simple-en. they should instead be made in en. see Wikidata:Project_chat#'als'/'gsw'? 'de-formal'?. --Akkakk 06:59, 29 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Can my UTRS ban please be lifted?

edit

This is Skiyomi from the English Wikipedia. I would really like to ask to have my block lifted there through the UTRS system (since the stewards have told me that I have to get unblocked on Wikipedia before they'll unlock my global account), but right now I am banned from UTRS until January 1. I was wondering if my UTRS ban could please be lifted so I can appeal my block? I really want to edit Wikipedia again. Thank you. Ladymion (talk) 17:59, 25 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Check

edit

Hi Amanda. This is one of the users whose account has been closed by you. I noticed that he has more accounts. He announced on his user page in Persian language that he has six user accounts.

Is he allowed to be active with all six accounts on English Wikipedia? Please check if you can. Thankful

I am adding a global lock tag for User:Numbers-Mathworld

edit

Since Numbers-Mathworld is globally locked, can I add a global lock tag in both Meta-Wiki and the local account. N-142 (talk) 00:01, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

I found myself affected by this gblock when I've forgotten to log in - fortunately it's a softblock so I can leave you a message here. Which long term abuse case does it refer to? This IP range is of a major telecom provider in Hong Kong so the collateral damage is quite substantial. Deryck Chan (talk) 04:23, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I can't disclose the sockmaster behind the range as that would be a violation of several policies that would result in my removal from my tools. I can confirm this does relate to an LTA, only applies to logged out users, and accounts are basically given if asked for. -- Amanda (she/her) 05:15, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
The block message visible to the user doesn't specify it's anon only, and the interface message below gives the impression that it's an open proxy block. May I suggest an alternative block message along the lines of "Due to long-term abuse from this IP range, only logged-in users are allowed to edit from your IP. If you're affected by this block, please log in and try again, or contact stewards at wikimedia.org to request an account"? Deryck Chan (talk) 07:53, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Deryck Chan: So the problem is, I can change the block reason. This doesn't mean your block message is going to change - stewards don't have the ability to change how the interface works and particularly when a local and global block get put together, the messaging gets worse. We have phab tasks open to address this, but that's a WMF issue. The reason does already say "Long-term abuse: If you are affected by this block, please message us" with message us being a link to our special contact form which goes to the email you specify. But I have just changed it to "Long-term abuse: If you are affected by this block, please login to your account or message us" with the link still embeded. -- Amanda (she/her) 15:39, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good, thank you. Deryck Chan (talk) 14:41, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
