Hi M00nchild00, I noticed quite a few public domain paintings at Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/Philadelphia Museum of Art are missing an image. I see on https://www.philamuseum.org/webpolicies.html?page=2 that the museum claims copyright on everything including paintings long in the public domain so that's why I didn't upload them. Now with the museum closed for a while, isn't it a good time to start talking about releasing the images that are in the public domain like the MET and Cleveland Museum of Art? Multichill (talk) 19:07, 5 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • @Multichill: We are actually in the process of updating our policies to our website to state that we don't assert museum copyright on our public domain images, but these images have been and continue to be available for download. We would gladly have them uploaded to Wikidata. M00nchild00 (talk) 17:15, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
    • That's good to hear! What is the timeline of this? Are you going to indicate what images are in the public domain and what images are still covered by copyright? Multichill (talk) 19:32, 7 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
      • I'm not exactly sure of the timeline or how it will be indicated but currently, works in copyright have their rights information on the object page while those in the public domain just don't have that field and the images are available to to download, i.e. van Gogh vs. Warhol. Hope that helps. M00nchild00 (talk) 13:51, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Adding Philadelphia Museum of Art person ID (P8317)

edit

Hi M00nchild00, I noticed you're adding Philadelphia Museum of Art entity ID (P8317) by hand. That's quite a lot of work. Do you have access to the data like "Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, French, 1796 - 1875" for 16601? That makes it easier to use it in tools like OpenRefine and mix'n'match. Multichill (talk) 19:29, 20 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • @Multichill: Hi there. I'm waiting to get a master spreadsheet of the data so will be automating in the future but thanks for the heads up. I just did some by hand for fun!

The word "constituent" does not describe the information encoded by this ID. A constituent is a person who votes or determines the course of something (e.g. an elector), or a thing (or person) that is a part of a board or organization (member). Neither of these definitions is appropriate here. --EncycloPetey (talk) 16:04, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
