Regarding your edit to "Keşke"siz bir kadın (Q118910266)
editI recently reverted an edit of yours to "Keşke"siz bir kadın (Q118910266) that added subclass of (P279)book (Q571) and I just wanted to make sure, are you aware of why that doesn't make sense there? Kinsio (talk ★ contribs) 19:05, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi - thank you. Yes, I think so - the record is representing a work, whereas the class "book" would be applied to an individual item? MonteMack (talk) 19:16, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Not quite; it's that the property subclass of (P279) should only be applied to items that themselves represent classes; for book (Q571) some illustrative examples are comic book (Q1760610), children's book (Q8275050), and history book (Q10916116). I get that the concepts used here aren't necessarily intuitive for everyone, so when I find mistakes like this I like to find who put in the information so I can provide some resources. There's an informative help page on this topic at Help:Basic membership properties. (What you said is thinking in the right direction with regard to books, though: there's specifics on that at Help:Sources § Books.) Kinsio (talk ★ contribs) 19:37, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- And actually, since the reason this came to my attention is that I'm working on entering a book right now and checking to make sure I'm doing it right, I've realized an even better resource for how to handle books is Wikidata:WikiProject Books. Kinsio (talk ★ contribs) 19:55, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Great - thank you for sharing those resources! MonteMack (talk) 20:32, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
