VIAF -> NTA

Hi, your bot adds ULAN-ids based on VIAF-id. Is it doable for your bot to also write NTA-id from the VIAF-id if applicable? Would be nice because in a many cases NTA has the dob and dod of a person. --Hannolans (talk) 13:13, 5 March 2020 (UTC)

Ah! Based on an dump file. Yes would be great. I also added viaf to professors previous year like G.J. de Grunt (Q73538942). Wouldn't it be an idea to base it on the property, like the bot is doing with rkdartists? Hey. I just reverted the numerous aliases added by your bot, for many if not all are not English. I see that the same problem arose recently with Virgil. Would you mind finding a workaround to prevent this behavior to happen ? As ULAN has not yet updated its entry with language tags, maybe it would be safer that your bot doesn't import more than, say, 15 aliases tagged as Vernacular for a single language, as very probably some are from an other one. --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 07:02, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

Late reply, bit distracted with other things. ULAN adds language tags, but unfortunately not in all cases. I guess in this case they haven't done that yet so it defaults to English. Importing this is intended behavior. Multichill (talk) 17:29, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Strange bot behaviour

My bad merges

Hello Multichill,

It's me, Granato31415. I'm really sorry I keep making all of these bad merges: I use a gamified section of Wikipedia called Wikidata (https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikidata-game/distributed/) to look at articles, and make quick categorizations. "Merge items" (at the bottom) usually gives me enough information to determine when the two articles shown are not the same thing, but sometimes, when comparing articles such as the sculptures and paintings, I just go off of all of the exact same information given: in the paintings' case, the photographer, the year of creation, and the title.

As much as I enjoy making records in Wikidata, I guess after all these years of trial and error, I'm still making too many rash choices. I'm going to just take a break, and figure out what else to do about this.
