Welcome to Wikidata, October wind!

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:

Merging items

Hallo October wind,

For merging items, you may want to use the merge.js gadget from help page about merging. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically place a request to delete the emptied page. This way of nominating makes it a lot easier for the admins to process the requests.

Hello Cycn, I used the Merged gadget in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets which says „Merge: Dieses Tool hilft beim Zusammenführen von Wikdata-Einträgen“. Isn’t that the same as the other gadget? What is the difference? --October wind (talk) 15:49, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

No, sorry, I used the RequestDeletion gadget this time. Now I see, what you mean. Merging wasn’t that easy this time, cause there was a mistake in it. --October wind (talk) 15:52, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

By the way, there’s a mistake in the German description of the Merged gadget in the preferences. It should say: „Merge: Dieses Tool hilft beim Zusammenführen von Wikidata-Einträgen“, Wikidata, not Wikdata. Can you fix that mistake anywhere? --October wind (talk) 15:55, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
