Welcome to Wikidata, Peppepz!

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:

  • Introduction – An introduction to the project.
  • Wikidata tours – Interactive tutorials to show you how Wikidata works.
  • Community portal – The portal for community members.
  • User options – including the 'Babel' extension, to set your language preferences.
  • Contents – The main help page for editing and using the site.
  • Project chat – Discussions about the project.
  • Tools – A collection of user-developed tools to allow for easier completion of some tasks.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask on Project chat. If you want to try out editing, you can use the sandbox to try. Once again, welcome, and I hope you quickly feel comfortable here, and become an active editor for Wikidata.

Wikidata:WikiProject Geology edit

I saw that you did some work on the timeline. If you are interested you can join Wikidata:WikiProject Geology. -Tobias1984 (talk) 13:11, 16 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Unfortunately, I’m not really competent in Geology; I’ve only added some information taken from Wikipedia (e.g. I added some “takes name from” properties, and I replaced some link to a disambiguation page with a link to the item itself). I did that while adding Sicilian names for the ages (this merely involves transliterating the Italian ones), only for the fun of it (because actually, nobody is ever going to study geology in Sicilian, which is not an official language anywhere!) and to learn a bit about Wikidata in the process. Babel edit

Babel lets you view and edit more than one language on Wikidata. Just add e.g. {{#babel:scn-N|en-3|es-1|fr-2|nl-3|it-4|da-0}} to your user page. With the same language codes you can add links to your userpage on Wikipedia e.g. scn:User:Peppepz. You can also look at Wikidata:Userboxes. --Tobias1984 (talk) 20:49, 18 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the information! I’m giving it a try later. Peppepz (talk) 13:26, 19 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
