Names edit

Hi! I realize that you are relatively new here but just so you know, we have Wikiprojects working on defining uses of a specific property in a domain. We have a very active Wikiproject about names and we are using some properties in a consistent way since as early as five years ago. For example we use said to be the same as (P460) to link together either family names sharing an etymology, transliteration in one language (like two very different names with two very different origins would still be linked together if they are written the same way in a third language), etc. It may not be obvious for a newcomer on this specific subject, so we tried to write help pages. If these are not clear enough, you can discuss the changes you want in the project page! Thank you, --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 16:24, 15 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

-- To say that the surname Bert is in any way related to the surname Herbert is JUST PLAIN WRONG. It is related to the Scots Burt, sometimes seen as Birt. By the way if you would care to check I have been here for over eleven years and don't take well to being patronised. S a g a C i t y (talk) 16:33, 15 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Removing given names edit

Not sure why you think it is appropriate to remove correct given names as per Hec Yeomans ? Both wikiproject names and wikidata main page showcase for Douglas Adams show that multiple given names with series ordinal is the preferred approach. Please stop deleting valid data.

Dear anon
Can't explain why I did that - normally I find myself being pulled up for the opposite. S a g a C i t y (talk) 07:11, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Name misunderstood edit

Archbishop Ti Kang (狄剛)'s family name is not Q56603916. The name rendering "Joseph Ti-Kang" is actually wrong as the hyphen should not exist. I'm Taiwanese and it is apparent to me that his family name is 狄/Dí (pinyin)/Ti2 (Wade-Giles). "Kang" is his given name while "Joseph" is his religious name, hence the combination "Joseph Ti Kang". I've corrected the bishop's item while I ask you to have the family name item deleted, it might be more efficient for the creator to do so, thank you.
