Hi, batch #34960 removed P648 from two items with instance of (P31) volume (Q1238720) (i.e. Q71174414 and Q71175202). I had added the P648 statements manually and still think they are appropriate (cf. ISBN). I’m inclined to undo the removal – unless there are other ideas?

Can there have been more cases of this type?

@Linus Wolf: I've removed Open Library ID (P648) containing "M" (which stays for edition) in a vast amount of items not having instance of (P31)version, edition or translation (Q3331189) (see also Property talk:P648#Work/edition duplicates); however, I agree that it should be restored in the two items you mention (I would advise adding them also instance of (P31)version, edition or translation (Q3331189)). I think that the property was applied in most cases improperly to works instead of to editions. --Epìdosis 19:26, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

OK great, I’ll undo or re-add. I’m not yet entirely sure about adding instance of (P31)version, edition or translation (Q3331189) – the two items in question are, as I understand it, properly linked to their edition item (part of (P361)Q71169125). Shouldn’t that be the sufficient?

Hi, not sure I understand Special:Diff/1189865221: Cybertext: perspectives on ergodic literature (Q94089559) is a book edition, version of Cybertext: perspectives on ergodic literature (Q94089370). The former had an “M” OpenLibrary ID, and the latter a “W” OpenLibrary ID − which to my understanding is consistent with the documentation of Open Library ID (P648), « identifier for a work ("W"), edition ("M") or author ("A") for book data of the Internet Archive ». @Jean-Frédéric: Not you, but I was missing something: I considered only instance of (P31)version, edition or translation (Q3331189), not instance of (P31)book edition (Q57933693) ...
