@Wulf Data: This batch incorrectly adds genre to humans. Genre is for artworks only. It may be added to "field of work" for humans, but is generally not used for artists who were known for more than one genre/style/movement etc. Already added a complaint about this here Jane023 (talk) 11:21, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Jane023: Other painters like https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q296 already had a genre. But I can change that in general to "field of work", if it is a better option. Wulf Data (talk) 19:51, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. Please fill out your userpage and declare there why you make the decisions that you do for batch edits. For edits to painting items or painter items, please drop a line at the WD:SOAP talkpage first. That said, I cannot speak for the data quality of all items for painters, but we do have a project for paintings and any questions or suggestions you have for improvements to painter items should be posted there first. I can most emphatically say that people never have a genre, no matter what random Q5 items may reflect. The various genres that artists worked in (most of them dabbled in other genres but are known for one or two specific genres) may be placed in the field of work property, but certainly not with the genre property. I did not check your whole batch, but I hope this gives you more information to correct your edits. Jane023 (talk) 06:58, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Wulf Data: @Jane023: I would say that such edits - whether in 'genre' or 'field of work' - also need references to reliable external sources. Don't just say someone's field of work is 'still life' because they painted at least one - this needs to be stated in some kind of external publication somewhere. True! I personally don't see the value of such statements and would rather let the works of the person speak for themselves, especially when popular museum databases seem to take over the artist biographies at times. Jane023 (talk) 10:07, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously incorrect mass import of unsourced data. I will undo the batches for the painters. Multichill (talk) 10:10, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
