Motivation edit
The Danish Address Register is used by many applications in the public and private sector. It provides coordinates (polygon, bounding box and visual center) and mappings for municipalities (via municipality code (Denmark) (P1168)), postal codes and various administrative subdivisions. The data is easily accessible for download or via web services.
This property allows automatic import/verification of other properties related to addresses and administrative subdivisions.
Traditionally many IT systems have used street segments (vejstykker) rather than named streets (navngivne veje) identified by street codes and municipality code (Denmark) (P1168) (street codes are unique within each municipality). However, concept of named streets, introduced with the Danish Address Register in 2008, is a better representation of road (Q34442).
