Motivation

Redump.org is a disc preservation database. Its aim is to collect accurate information on every video game released on optical media.

An envisioned possible use is the user placing CD/DVD/Blu-ray into the optical drive, a program computes the disc's SHA1 sum, looks it up from the Redump.org database, then find the Wikidata Q ID, finally displaying the corresponding Wikipedia article.
