Motivation edit
With the property "applicant", research projects can be described in greater detail. The property could also be used in other domains with calls or tenders. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by 95.168.138.91 (talk • contribs) at 10:10, March 4, 2021 (UTC).

- Support--LukasCBossert This is a property that is most welcome, since it enables to differentiate the different roles of institutions in the funding constellation of research projects. As far as I can see there is no other property that would describe this specific role. I do vote for this. LukasCBossert (talk) 10:46, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

- Didn't we have a model for this type of project? How does it fit in? --- Jura 17:37, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Jura: there is here https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_Wikidata_for_research/Data_models/Research_grants but this seems to be missing. --Hannes Röst (talk) 21:13, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- Ok. --- Jura 20:27, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support, an important property for research.--Arbnos (talk) 23:23, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose current label. Maybe the label needs amending to address the concerns raised at Wikidata:Property proposal/co-applicant. --- Jura 04:59, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Weak oppose – does this not reflect a grantholder rather than an applicant? Also, if accepted, Comment: let's make clear in the description that it does not apply to applicants to patents. Ari T. Benchaim (talk) 01:14, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

- Comment somehow the currently proposed property description seems the wrong way round. --- Jura 13:18, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- Comment the samples don't seem to make much sense: SFB 874 (Q7389939) has P31 = Collaborative Research Centre (Q2300983) and consortium (Q194166) how could they have an "applicant"? Similarly SFB 884: Political Economy of Reforms (Q48975701) has P31 = Collaborative Research Centre (Q2300983). Maybe @Ari T. Benchaim: proposal is an option, but "domain" and "allowed values" need to be clarified. @Hannes Röst, Trade, Germartin1, Arbnos: can you explain what you intend this for? --- Jura 08:37, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
