- Motivation
The date of consecration is an important piece of information relating to Christian bishops, as it signifies when they were made bishops. There is currently no property on Wikidata that allows this information to be entered on the respective bishops' item pages. This property would be analogous to the above-mentioned Wikipedia template parameter. Ergo Sum (talk) 03:31, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
- Discussion
- Comment I think this should be done using significant event (P793) consecration (Q125375) with point in time (P585) qualifier. ArthurPSmith (talk) 17:30, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose per Arthur. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:30, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose, per above. --Yair rand (talk) 23:28, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
- Support I happened to stumble on this yesterday, and, given the considerable number of bishops for which there is no birthdate, it would be quite necessary. --Hsarrazin (talk) 15:16, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose If we accept this, why not have "instated as president on" or "hired as CEO on", etc: props to express the effective date of every kind of position on Earth? --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 17:55, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
- Comment I quite like Arthur's solution. Seems to do the job. Ergo Sum (talk) 21:51, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Ergo Sum, Pigsonthewing, Vladimir Alexiev, ArthurPSmith, Yair rand: Not done. Using significant event (P793) is possible. Using start time (P580) to qualify being a bishop is also possible and would feel more straightforward to me. ChristianKl (talk) 14:44, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
