Motivation edit
I would like to model how academic and political fields related to each other. Many ideas come from opposition towards a (then-dominant) paradigm. I also consider it as important for covering relevant knowledge. E.g. One of the most important properties of the idea known as "Marxism" can be seen as that it is an explicit criticism of another idea, "capitalism". "Free Software" is an alternative and opposition to software with proprietary licensing etc. Without such information, the practical, political or historical relevance of the topics is hard to understand. -- Simulo (talk) 14:23, 29 September 2019 (UTC)
Note: Feel free to suggest a different name, if you think it does not match the intended use or if it clashes with other properties. I e.g. considered "argues against" and "criticizes", too. Simulo (talk) 16:27, 29 September 2019 (UTC)
Discussion edit
I never suggested a property before, so there might be missing info in the template (was unsure about the "domain") or misinterpretations of the appropriate procedure. -- Simulo (talk) 14:29, 29 September 2019 (UTC)

- Support, why not. Nomen ad hoc (talk) 18:00, 29 September 2019 (UTC).
- Comment We might want to think up a better label, to avoid confusion with the existing property statement disputed by (P1310). ArthurPSmith (talk) 18:16, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- Comment Perhaps one with "opposed" instead of the harsher "disputed". "item opposed by" or "topic opposed by" or more narrow and to the point "concept opposed by" ? Thadguidry (talk) 18:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- "concept opposed by" sounds good to me. Or even "concept disputed by". It should be clear this is for situations where opposite of (P461) isn't appropriate - i.e. the two items are not equivalent in some general sense while being opposites. ArthurPSmith (talk) 17:17, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- +1. It's important to have clear labels. --Yair rand (talk) 18:53, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- Comment What about opposite of (P461) ?. Amadalvarez (talk) 17:14, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support we need more properties to model politics. --GPSLeo (talk) 18:00, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Simulo, ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2, Nomen ad hoc, ArthurPSmith, Thadguidry, Yair rand: @Amadalvarez, GPSLeo: Done, see item disputed by (P7378). I used "item disputed by" to avoid ambiguity with statement disputed by (P1310) --DannyS712 (talk) 20:09, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
