Motivation
editThe 'frame elaboration' property is different from the 'subframe' property. In frame semantics, elaboration is the process of adding detail to a scene overall, making a more abstract scenario more concrete. Examples include BUILDING A HOUSE being a frame elaboration of BUILDING A BUILDING and CLIMBING A MOUNTAIN being a frame elaboration of GOING UP. On the other hand, the 'subframe' property refers to an integral sub-scene that forms part of a larger scene, as in TAKING OFF SHIRT is a subframe of UNDRESSING. Like the subframe relation, in frame elaboration a given frame can be an elaboration of two unrelated frames (see Example 1).
Discussion
edit- Oppose subclass of (P279) already does the job of defining subclass relations. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 13:57, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I am back. After reworking the proposals, I do not believe the subclass relation is sufficient to describe relations between frames. Frame elaboration and subframe are two different ways frames can relate to each other. Ultimately, it is not clear what it means for one frame to be a subclass of another. - Oppose Usage is too open-ended and confusing. We already have other properties to make these relationships. Lectrician1 (talk) 02:11, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
